Mimi Steinhaus MA, LPC, NCC
Integrative Therapy KC
I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended college and law school in Boston, where I lived for 15 years. My life path has included practicing law, being a stay-at-home mom and participating in extensive community service.
In recent years, I embarked on a new career path and completed a graduate program in Counseling and Guidance at University of Missouri - Kansas City, graduating in May 2012 with a Master’s degree. I am currently a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Missouri, working in a private practice setting. In 2015 I completed a 2-year fellowship position at MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault), where therapists provide counseling services to those who have experienced trauma through sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse. I am a certified EMDR therapist, having completed the requirements for certification. In my private practice, I provide individual counseling to adults, utilizing a contemporary integrative therapy approach, drawing on mindfulness-based strategies, and using EMDR therapy when appropriate. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment and working with each client in a collaborative relationship. My therapy goal is to help each client increase self-awareness and insight, leading to a more rewarding and fulfilling life.
My practice areas include: trauma recovery, anxiety, stress management, depression, relationship issues, career choices/changes, among others.
I am interested in helping those who are facing life transitions, whether related to career/job decisions, school to work issues, empty nest issues, relationship challenges, divorce/breakup, or grief/loss, among others. I also offer help to those suffering from recent or past trauma.
